COMMERCIAL LAW CLERK
COMMERCIAL LAW CLERK
Key Responsibilities:
- Handles all aspects of Chartered Bank lender work regarding commercial loans for land acquisitions, servicing and development of land, and new subdivision and condominium construction loans
- Handles land acquisitions/sales, primarily for new developments; vacant land, farm land and existing commercial lands (with /without existing tenants)
- Responsible for surety work related to condominium projects; deposit insurance and bonds, charges/mortgages and all security related thereto
- Reviews bank lender/deposit insurer commitment letters and produces the required documents/security and conducts the necessary land title/offtitle, PPSA and corporate searches related thereto
- Prepares and registers various documents in Teraview including Transfers, Charges, Easements, Notices, Discharges etc.
- A diploma in a related Legal Administration and/or Law Clerk program or equivalent years of experience
- A minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position in a Commercial Real Estate Law practice
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Conveyancer, PC Law and Teraview
- Excellent organization and timemanagement skills
- Ability to work independently, accurately and efficiently on multiple files
- Ability to complete commercial loans and land acquisition/sale transactions from start to finish with mínimal supervision
- Strong understanding of and ability to read land title and PPSA searches
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrates a professional demeanor, high ethical standards, respect and commitment to service excellence
- Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with lawyers and other employees as part of a team
Asset:
- Experience with Worldox or a similar document management system
