Position Description:
Clinical Research Project Manager
Summary of Main Function and Purpose of Job:
The Clinical Research Project Manager works closely with the Division of Orthopaedic Faculty to plan and manage the overall research program and broader research team.
This includes long-term planning of on-going projects, day-to-day operations of on-going studies, and development of new projects & affiliated registries.
In addition, they supervise the personnel on individual research teams, comprised of clinical research coordinators and assistants, trainees, research students and volunteers, including on-going training, organizing communication strategies, and team meetings.
Finally, they will develop close working relationships with the medical and health care professional staff who provide clinical care to the study patients, both at the SickKids and other institutions.
The Project manager may also assume Clinical Research Coordinator responsibilities.Protocol Related:
- Develop workplans with orthopaedic faculty for specific patient registry projects
- Write grants to obtain external funding for clinical and registry based research
- Coordinate with biostatistics personnel as needed to complete data analyses
- Adopt and maintain existing RedCap databases used as patient registries in the orthopaedic division
- Connect the RedCap databases to EPIC via the Sickkids data platform
- Manage personnel including students, volunteers, and paid research assistants for registry enrollment in the clinics
- Integrate existing and novel patient reported outcome measures into EPIC clinical systems and research registries at Sickkids
- Manage the collection of PROMs data via MyChart and other means of communicating with patients.
- Draft and revise manuscripts
Human Resources / Financial:
- Encourage and foster collaborative relationships with healthcare team at SickKids, other participating centres and government and community agencies.
- Actively participate in departmental/program meetings, or rounds to acquire and disseminate knowledge and to profile clinical research.
- Develop, manage and forecast study budgets.
- Monitor Staff performance and assist PI with annual performance appraisals.
Education / Experience Required:
- A Master's degree in Epidemiology, Health Science or a related field with a minimum of three years experience in clinical research. You have proven skills in grant writing, data and budget management, graphics. You are familiar with statistical software packages.

Relationships and Responsibility:
- Reports to Principal Investigator.
- Requires mínimal supervision.
- Supervises clinical research assistants, coordinators, trainees, students and volunteers.
Measures of success:
- Sustainable consistent registries
- Numbers of patients in registries
- Grants submitted
- Papers published
