    Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Truck Driver Labourer

    The Municipality of the County of Inverness is seeking Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Truck Driver Labourer applications.

    Under the direction of the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor, the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Truck Driver Labourer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Municipal infrastructure.

    The Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Truck Driver Labourer will frequently travel to and from sites throughout the Municipality, work in a variety of weather conditions and respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.

    A commitment to teamwork, achieving excellence in safety, and quality performance through continuous development will be demonstrated by the successful candidates.

    Provide support with the maintenance and repair of the Municipal water/wastewater distribution systems, manholes, valves, sidewalks, standpipes, etc.
    Transport heavy equipment to and from worksites.

    Assist and support the preparation and completion of all traffic control, job specific safety reviews, utility locates and other preparatory requirements are in place prior to commencing an assigned maintenance/repair project.

    Perform signalman duties for truck drivers and equipment operators.
    Transport gravel to and from job sites
    Organize and maintain the service bay area, as directed by the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor.
    Transport debris to waste management facility.
    Foster effective teamwork and high standards of work quality, organizational performance and continuous learning.

    Maintain courteous and positive public relations with residents of the community, representatives of organizations and visitors by delivering quality service.

    Assist in the maintenance and repair of the Municipal sewage collection system.
    Ensure the completion of sidewalk snow removal, including shoveling, plowing and salting.
    Assist in tasks related to the scheduled maintenance and repair of Municipal infrastructure (ie valve maintenance).
    Assist with the completion of sewer & water hook-ups, as required.
    Assist with Water Shutoff repairs, as needed.
    Maintain the inventory of all equipment/tools that are on site while loading and unloading of trucks and trailers.

    Perform emergency maintenance of any Municipal road system, including sidewalks by operating municipal equipment as required, including evenings and weekends, upon receiving a call from the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor.

    Operate heavy equipment, as directed by the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor.
    Adhere to federal & provincial legislation and regulations.
    Conduct and attend safety, operational and training meetings as required.

    Report all near-misses and incidents to the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor, Manager of Infrastructure and Director of Public Works immediately.

    Adhere to Municipal policies and procedures.
    Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Municipality of the County of Inverness.

    Report to the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor, Manager of Infrastructure and/or Director of Public Works, all work situations which are suspected of being unhealthy or unsafe.

    Report to the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor, Manager of Infrastructure and/or Director of Public Works, any employee whose on-the-job performance or actions contravenes established safety procedures or work practices.

    Report to the Public Works Infrastructure Maintenance Site Supervisor, Manager of Infrastructure and/or Director of Public Works, all Occupational Health & Safety related injuries or property damage regardless of severity.

    Valid driver's license, with a Class 1 Endorsement, or a Class 3 Endorsement willing to work towards a Class 1.

    WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and First Aid Training.
    Post-Secondary training in a related trade would be considered an asset.
    Working from Heights and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) training considered an asset.
    Experience in municipal sewer & water repair/installation.
    Experience and proficiency utilizing paving equipment.
    Ability to obtain Traffic Control Person and Signer.
