Position Description:
***As a member of the health care team, this position supports patient care through the maintenance of a clean, safe and well-organized unit, and the use of equipment and products in accordance with established policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent
- Minimum six months experience performing cleaning duties
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment (i.e. burnishers, polishers)
- Knowledge of WHMIS regulations and guidelines
- Computer/tracking dataentry skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision
- Ability to set and respond effectively to changing work priorities
- Effective customer service and interpersonal skills
- Basic arithmetic skills: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
- Ability to perform all of the physical demands of the job (e.g. floor burnishing & buffing and hanging curtains)
- Good attendance and work performance record is essential
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Unit Support Service Provider (USSP) is an integral member of the team in Environmental Services, supporting effective service by maintaining a clean, safe and well-supplied unit.
This position is responsible for:
a) Keeping the unit clean, disposing of waste, cleaning equipment, patient rooms and preparing beds
b) Keeping adequate stock of clinical, linen and cleaning supplies on the unit
c) Regularly reviewing areas of responsibility for special housekeeping attention, and promptly reporting damaged furniture, equipment and safety hazards to Supervisor/Manager
d) Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager
WAGE RATE
Hourly:
$ $ $27.25 (plus 14% in lieu of benefits)
