    Position Overview

    As a member of the Maintenance Team, the JP Plumber will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and work two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotation at the Ekati mine site. The JP Plumber will be responsible for the mechanical portion of facility maintenance in a remote location. The JP Plumber will provide maintenance and repair services, as well as install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and wastewater disposal.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Complete high-quality plumbing work in a safe and timely manner;
  • Install, repair, and maintain site plumbing fixtures and systems;
  • Manage potable water sample testing (chlorine, Turbidity, etc.) and record daily levels in SAP;
  • Manage and monitor the sites sewer treatment plant and action repairs as required;
  • Repair commercial kitchen equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations;
  • Together with maintenance planning personnel, steward the review, modification, development and implementation of detailed job plans. These would include information such as; task lists, labor resources, tool requirements, material requirements, safety and hazardous material requirements, pre-job activities, a detailed task description and post maintenance activities;
  • Mentorship of employees, trainees, and trades people;
  • Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures;
  • Oversee and ensure that contractors assigned to your responsibility meet quality, cost, and schedule targets;
  • Work with other trades in a flexible team environment to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.
  • Education/Experience

  • Certified Journeyperson Plumber. Red Seal certification is required for trades out of province;
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Certified back flow tester with valid ticket;
  • Minimum of a Class 1 - Water and Wastewater Operator certification;
  • Minimum 3-5 years' of directly related construction and maintenance experience in renovation, commercial and light industrial settings;
  • Must have commercial kitchen equipment experience;
  • Working knowledge of SAP and basic computer literacy with willingness to learn new computer skills;
  • Ability to comprehend a situation and identify underlying causes, use knowledge and experience to tackle and solve technical issues;
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
  • Class 5 driver's license is required.
  • Preference given to dual trade JP Pipefitter

    Additional Information

    The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
