Hiring Group - Engineering Design Office

Position - Site Inspector with Trenchless Experience (full time)

Project Duration 1-2 years with the potential for longer duration

Anticipated Start Date - Q2/Q3 2023

Anticipated work location - Waterloo/Mississauga/Toronto/Niagara/ Huntsville

Anticipated Hourly range - $35 - $45 per Hour with comprehensive benefits package offering 4 weeks holidays/year

Qualification and Experience:

Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Bachelor Applied Science (B.A.Sc./P.Eng.) Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
Proven experience in technical leadership and management of Horizontal Directional Drilling and Microtunneling
5 years postgraduate experience in Geotechnical/Civil/ Tunnels and linear Infrastructure projects
Inward facing with experience in client service

The following experience is considered desirable and should be proven as far as possible via the projects and experience listed in the applicants CV:

Proven capability in design and or site inspection of HDD and tunnels overviewing work completed by contractor
Experience in design or site inspection of small diametre tunnels in soft ground and Hard Rock up to 3.0 metres
Experience with shaft & shoring design and installation
Good understand of precast concrete tunnel segments, HDPE and FPVC pipe materials
Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of different tunnelling & shaft construction methods, logistics, equipment & methodology
Knowledge of settlement instrumentation & monitoring
Soft ground tunnelling ancillaries including ground treatment, dewatering, & ground freezing
Experience in reviewing GBR's, review of GDR and geotechnical investigation planning for evaluation in construction
Familiar with interpreting and responding to specifications
Familiar with cost estimating & scheduling related to trenchless installation practices
Experience in risk management analysis
Consult with other disciplines, professionals, clients and third party as needed
Strong verbal and writing skills
Good problem solving and teamwork skills

Role - The primary role of the Respondent is to ease project work within GHD's Ontario Water business practice and to support projects within southern Ontario.

The Respondent will be tasked with responding to technical and administrative tasks associated with the development of trenchless project within southern Ontario and have the ability to travel and stay in communities for extended periods.
