As the
Field
Technician, you will be responsible for mapping, soil sampling, and assisting in the fields, which is an integral part of the SWAT process at Croptimistic.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will be a member on the Farmer Services team while communicating with multiple departments and learning about our SWAT ECOSYSTEM.

You will be located in the Saskatoon area to best facilitate surrounding fields; and be expected to travel often including overnight stays.


Responsibilities

  • Map fields, collecting georeferenced electrical conductivity, RTK elevation, and field boundaries
  • Soil sample fields using SWAT MAPS, following GPSreferenced points
  • Assist with agronomy work, including inseason variablerate field assessments, plant stand counts, insect and disease scouting
  • Assist GIS with making prescription files and yield and data cleaning
  • Prep variable rate and SWAT CAM reports
  • Champion the brand

Requirements:


  • Class 5 driver's license, with 4wheel, field driving experience (abstract may be requested)
  • Must be willing to work overtime in peak seasons (Spring & Fall) including Saturdays
  • Flexibility, with an ability to pivot depending on seasonal needs
  • Excellent communication and problemsolving skills
  • Strong computer skills, with willingness to learn GIS and farm management software
  • Able to work independently and think strategically
  • Highlevel of integrity and commitment to providing unrivaled service
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and/or experience considered an asset
  • Relevant education and/or experience in agriculture, with knowledge of Western Canadian agriculture specifically, would be advantageous
