Description
Participates as a member of the Operations Divisions in supporting program objectives and priorities.

The incumbent will act as a liaison between Finance and the three Operational Divisions (Thermal, Hydro and Transmission and Distribution), with the objective for compiling and preparation capital and operational material for monthly reporting and budgeting and forecasting purposes.


Works with the Chief Operating Officer and the three Operations Directors to develop and defend budgets and forecast revisions and conducts variance analyses for management purposes.

The Data Analyst and Scheduler also leads the coordination and scheduling for major projects involving Operations and various other Divisions including annual shutdowns, scheduling for the hydro sites and ad hoc projects as they arise.


Responsibilities:


Provides monthly financial analysis and adhoc analysis on financial data to support operations in delivery of operations annual Division Plans and in creating Division plans for the new fiscal year.

Responsible for conducting monthly and quarterly variance analysis for expenses for the operations divisions and making recommendations for forecast changes, as well as working with Directors and Managers to develop variance explanations.

Supports Operations Directors, Asset Manager and Operations Managers in providing accurate and timely information on capital projects led by Operations including updating the status and monthly accruals to support the capital planning and reporting process.

Responsible for the coordination and scheduling for ad hoc and recurring major projects involving Operations and various other Divisions including annual shutdowns, scheduling for the hydro sites and ad hoc projects as they arise.

Responsible for scheduling operations and contracts for supplies & services including scheduled air charter and camp services for plant operations in Yellowknife, Behchoko, Snare, Bluefish and Taltson hydro sites in support of the Manager Plant Operations and the Manager, South Slave Operations.

Provides advice, support and recommended courses of action to the Operations Divisions on resolving financial problems and priorities and advice on coding and allocation issues.

Develop and report on a regular basis to the Chief Operating Officer and the Division Director Key Performance Indicators that support oversight on effective and efficient operations, maintenance and safety.

This information will be used to report to the Board of Directors on a regular basis.


Qualifications:


Must have a degree in business, or economics and related experience; or a diploma in business and/or economics with three years of work experience; or be enrolled in a recognized accounting program with five years of work experience.

Must possess excellent analytical skills and structured problem-solving abilities.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
Must have demonstrated strong organizational skills
Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
Experience with Great Plains accounting system is an asset
Must possess the ability to work independently and as a team player.
Must possess strong organizational and administrative skills.
Must have strong presentation and public speaking skills.

Salary for this position ranges from $43.82/hr-$53.24/hr.
