Athletics Coordinator.

This is a contract that runs during the academic year (from September to June) and is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week, generally on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The Position:


The role of the Athletics Coordinator is to assist the Director, Athletics in administrative support, leadership and coordination among the competitive and instructional athletics program providing Havergal College students with a positive, well-organized and inclusive athletics experience.


Specific Accountabilities:


  • Assist the Director, Athletics in administrative tasks to ensure organizational & department objectives are achieved in the most efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensure competitive teams and instructional activities have transportation to offcampus events and venues.
  • Ensure student and school information systems (Axiom and Veracross) as they pertain to rosters, schedules and facility bookings are accurate, updated and maintained throughout the year
  • Identify uniforms and equipment needs for competitive teams and instructional activities; keep a current database of uniform and equipment inventory.
  • Work with Director, Athletics to ensure highquality event hosting. Manage athletics events (e.g. facility setup requests, transportation, schedule officials, onsite trainers, communications), ensuring venues are prepared to allow for a successful event within a safe environment.
  • Organize and distribute payments for game/tournament officials.
  • Work with the Director, Athletics to maintain the school's social media profile.
  • Help organize travel for team trips (OFSAA, CAIS, training camps) hotel, transportation, meals, etc.
  • Update and distribute sport guidelines, OPHEA standards and emergency contact details at the start of each term for all coaches.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

  • Knowledgeable in the expectations of coaching responsibilities to answer questions and lead by example


  • Computer Skills

  • Outlook, Excel, Word, social media platforms and event/athletics scheduling software
  • Highly organized, detailedoriented, able to work with deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to interact with students and coaches effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments
  • Motivated, motivational, independent, resourceful
  • Must have experience planning and executing events, logistics, scheduling and program management
  • Experience working with sport organizations is an asset
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification is required

Please note, the location of this role is at Havergal College (1451 Avenue Rd, North York, ON M5N 2H9), with travel to CISAA schools (to attend events and meetings).

There is occasional evening and weekend work when hosting games and events.
