Summer Research Assistant - Post Secondary
(Full-time Contract from June 5, 2023 to July 28, 2023)
Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS) is a national non-profit organization, based in the Greater Toronto Area.
CCS aims to empower immigrants and refugees of all religions, ethnicities, countries of origin, immigration status, sexual orientation, or political affiliation to develop the skills and acquire the necessary knowledge to settle, integrate and succeed in Canada.
CCS believes in the power of diversity and inclusion to foster change, nurture progress and move society forward.Newcomers need linguistically-appropriate assistance and culturally-sensitive support and CCS delivers programs and services in thirty languages to address these gaps, assisting clients to confidently navigate the labour market, school and health care systems.

What you'll get to do:
- Research and identify the datarelated capacitybuilding needs and interests that exist among communitybased organizations that serve newcomers in Scarborough.
- Support the planning and implementation of datarelated capacitybuilding workshops for service providers.
- Assist with identifying potential workshop facilitators, organizations and target audiences.
- Actively participate in ongoing team meetings.
What you need to know/have:
- Completed or working towards postsecondary education in the social sciences or social work
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment
- Passionate about enhancing newcomer services on a community level through the use of research and data
- Previous experience planning and coordinating events, both inperson and virtually
- Knowledge of, or interested in learning about, the research/data needs, gaps and challenges that exist within the nonprofit sector
- Certification in event planning is an asset
Location:
Toronto
Hours: 35 per week
Compensation:
$15.50 per hour
