We are currently sourcing a Corporate Health and Safety Manager to work in our Saskatoon Office location, with travel to various mine sites and client offices as required.
Corporate Health and Safety Manager
- participation in the investigation process regarding safety incidents, near misses, etc. to rectify site safety deficits in a timely manner
- development of progressive safety policies, programs, procedures, and best practices
- communication with senior management team on safety matters to inform client communication around safety measures in place and room for continuous improvement
- safety training and development of training materials for HCC staff as required
- overall enhancement and development of the corporate safety strategy and culture for HCC
In addition, we are looking for someone who has significant underground experience in the mining industry, has demonstrated attention to safety, and has competently provided safety oversight for the following activities:
- development of training programs and modules
- installation of conveyance systems and other underground infrastructure
- construction of underground storage bins and other structural projects
- shotcreting, backfilling and installing concrete foundations
- shaft construction and remediation
Qualifications
- a minimum of 5-7 years working in underground mining
- previous mining and/or safety supervision and management experience
- excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite a must to be successful in the role
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- current certification in Saskatchewan General Mine Safety Awareness and WHMIS 2015; train-the-trainer certification in both is strongly preferred but not required
- current certification in Leadership for Safety Excellence and First Aid/CPR
- current certification as a NCSO and/or CRSP
- a commitment to working safely and providing effective leadership in a team environment
- positive attitude and excellent work ethic
- a valid driver's license for site travel needs
