What is the Opportunity?:


The Manager, Corporate Marketing & Communications manages the marketing needs for the two audition-based schools located at The Royal Conservatory of Music: The Taylor Academy (Taylor) and The Glenn Gould School (GGS) (including the Rebanks Family Fellowship Program and ARC Ensemble).

This role also manages the marketing needs for major projects undertaken by the RCM's Development division (mainly gala events) as well as leading the promotion of the RCM's Neuroscience division.


Additionally, the Manager is the primary Public Relations (PR) lead for The Royal Conservatory (with the exception of the Performing Arts Division), writing and issuing media releases, and coordinating media requests and interviews for the organization.


Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Planning

  • Collaborate with GGS, ARC Ensemble, and Taylor in annual marketing planning, determining business challenges, strategic goals, and identifying business needs for the upcoming year.
  • Create strategic marketing plans for each school and program including tactics (e.g. media channel recommendations) to achieve their business/recruiting goals and set metrics to evaluate results within approved budgets.
  • Be the main liaison with the Development team for marketing and collateral needs related to major projects such as The Royal Occasion, other Signature Events, and major fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborate with other marketing team members to identify opportunities for crosspromotion while ensuring alignment with corporate branding.
Execution

  • Write corporate communication and print collateral copy where required.
  • Manage production schedules including the coordination of approvals and revisions.
  • Develop creative briefs including key messages and brief the creative services team.
  • Work with external vendors (e.g., media suppliers and photographers), as required.
  • Work with the RCM's Creative Services team briefing social media, website, and design work.
  • Provide onsite support as appropriate for school and donor events. Some evening and weekend work is expected.
Public Relations

  • Write announcements, briefing notes, and media releases (excluding Performing Arts Division publicity).
  • Act as the RCM's primary corporate public relations contact, developing and maintaining relationships with the media, and answering inquiries from the general public.
  • Work with external PR vendors, as required.
  • Write government outreach initiatives such as newsletters and official correspondence, as required.
  • Performing other rolerelevant duties as required.

Job Requirements:


What We're Looking For:


  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Marketing or equivalent field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of Marketing and/or Communications experience, ideally in an advertising agency environment (client services).
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and consultatively.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of digital and print media planning is an asset.
  • Knowledge of or experience with The Royal Conservatory or equivalent music system of study is an asset.
  • Knowledge of French is an asset.
