Basic Function:


The Human Resources Coordinator (Recruiting Focus) is responsible for providing coordination and operational support for overall Human Resources function, including assisting with selection and recruitment, records management and HRIS administration.

The position provides response to HR related queries. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan.

This opportunity exists to support the Human Resources Business Partners and the Talent Acquisition Partner with a focus on recruiting:

  • Participating in recruiting efforts from attending and coordinating job fairs to involvement in all aspects of the full cycle recruitment process.
  • Maintaining the HRIS including updating and sharing regular reports.
  • Ensures HR documentation is prepared and processed.

Responsibilities:


  • Acts as point of contact for the Human Resources branch.
  • Maintains the Human Resources Information System including filing and record systems within the Branch.
  • Responsible for Workforce Now new employee information control which includes employee activation and reactivation.
  • Ensures that Human Resources documentation for staff is prepared and processed and that all clerical duties within the Branch, including filing and the preparation and processing of correspondence, memorandums, and reports, are done within a timely manner.
  • Prepares internal job postings, as well as external job advertisements and makes necessary arrangements to advertise in various avenues including trade magazines, social media and websites.
  • Supports the Talent Acquisition Partner including assisting with administration of coop and internship programs, community outreach and job fairs.
  • Attends career fairs, job fairs and community events to promote employment opportunities at the Zoo.
  • Provides administrative support within the HR Branch.
  • Ensures that all Human Resources documentation for staff is prepared and processed in a timely manner, including correspondence, memorandums, and reports.
  • Records minutes or notes at meetings as required.

  • Responds to management or staff regarding matters pertaining to employment legislation or the collective agreement and policy administration.
  • Assists with HR related events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in or graduate of a Human Resources postsecondary program, or the equivalent amount of training and related experience. CHRP designation is an asset.
  • Must have 2 years of previous Human Resources experience, including demonstrated experience in full cycle recruitment and selection.
  • Experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Possess good office skills, including the ability to take accurate notes or minutes.
  • Good understanding of Ontario labour, human rights, equity, and employment legislation.
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality and discretion in the handling of labour relations and H
