    The Floral Utility Clerk is responsible to ensure customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards.

    Responsibilities:

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, request and complaints. Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
  • Able to communicate professionally with potential clients and businesses for events.
  • Ensures display presentation and stock levels are maintained as well as wateringproduct. Follows direction and performs program execution and merchandising of product. Handle and prepare floral product. Understanding of all potted and cut plants.
  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and es substitutions and ensures price integrity including price changes. Provide customers with pricing information of each arrangement, ensuring all instructions regarding required arrangement are properly completed.
  • Performs general cleanup duties such as cleaning spills, counter and display fixtures toensure neat and organized department. Responsible for keeping the sales floor area clean from cardboard and debris.
  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
  • Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools. Reports repair requirements to the Produce Supervisor, Produce or Duty Manager.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies. Inform customers about floral arrangement timelines.
  • Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing / verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
  • Performing, organizing and conducting inventory, as well as all ordering duties.
  • Positive communications skills with vendors.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities including training others to do the FloralUtility Clerk job.
  • Environmental Conditions:

  • Requirement to stand or walk for long periods.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, reaching, twisting and heavy lifting.
  • Carrying, pushing and pulling of heavy loads.
  • Requires above and below shoulder reaching and use of sharp instruments required.
  • Frequent time demands and deadlines
  • Dealing with continuous demands of customers
  • May be exposed to conditions of cold, cool and/or damp.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Related floral retail experience, including the provision of customer service.
  • Desirable Qualifications:

  • Floral designer certificate or equivalent experience
  • Receiving, counter set-up and plant product knowledge / experience.
  • Ability to customize floral arrangements to the requests of customers
  • Knowledge of ordering merchandise and supplies, and related procedures.
  • Excel, Microsoft word and Outlook

    MINIMUM / ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

    • Related floral retail experience, including the provision of customer service.
