Technical Analyst to join our Information Services team


Reporting directly to the Manager of File & Deployment Services and working closely with our dedicated Team Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in setting up and deploying cutting-edge computer systems.


What You'll Do:

Evergreen Deployment:You will set-up and deploy the Evergreen computer systems and peripherals to our University employees, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal performance. Develop and test Evergreen PC software images, install hardware upgrades, and streamline computer setup and imaging processes.

Lab and Classroom Maintenance:Install, administer and maintain operability of computer systems and peripherals in public labs and smart classrooms. Includes development of lab computer software images and installers, testing installers, security updates and ensuring access to appropriate software.

Automated Updates:Prepare, test, and deploy automated software updates/patches to managed computer systems to ensure they remain up to date, secure and in compliance with policy.

IS Operations:Execute IS operations including data centre monitoring, hardware installation/removal, equipment salvage, and backup tape handling.

Technical Support:Diagnose and resolve issues with public lab or smart classroom computers, Evergreen images, automated updates/patches or peripherals.

User Guidance:Provide technical assistance, advice and guidance on the use of the computer systems maintained by the group.

Position Requirements


What You Will Bring to the Position:

  • Grade 12 supplemented by the successful completion of a diploma in computer technology; and
  • Minimum of two years related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Possession of Comptia A+ Certification is required as a condition of passing probation.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role:

  • Expertise in Microsoft Windows and related hardware/software, including superior problem analysis and resolution. Experience with MacOS is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with customers to understand their requirements and convey issues/solutions.
  • Good knowledge of script programming for the automation of software installation. Previous experience with enterprise workstation management tools (such as Micro Focus Zenworks) is an asset.
  • Ability to continually learn and update detailed technical knowledge in a fast paced IT environment.
  • Experience in the technical support and troubleshooting of commonly used software, hardware, and other associated peripherals with a willingness to expand one's expertise in the area.
  • Experience providing technical guidance and leadership.
  • Experience in developing documentation for training, use of software/hardware, user procedures, and project deliverables.
  • Proven effective timemanagement skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal courteously and effectively with students, faculty, staff and the proven ability to work independently with mínimal supervision, as well as within a team environment.
Physical Demands Pay Grade CUPE Phase 5 Salary Range $58, $78,585.52 Annually Status Term Work Hours
