Role
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team, filling the role of a Civil Estimator/Project Coordinator.

This position will include shadowing various roles in the company to become familiar with the coordination of in-field works, project management, and project estimating/bidding.


We offer training in many areas of work expertise and offer relevant exposure to the civil engineering field from a contractor's perspective.


This position is based out of the Fraser Valley, with travel required for managing job sites across the Lower Mainland and the Greater Vancouver area.


Responsibilities
As a member of the Project Management Team; your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Read, interpret and understand contract drawings and specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Project Managers, including analysis of tender drawings and preparation of quantity takeoffs.
  • Identify costs involved in projects, and solicitation of subtrade pricing for tenders both in person and on the phone, with followup analysis of subtrade quotes.
  • Review, along with the assistance of the Project Managers, updated design drawings and specifications for variances in project budgeting.
  • Review shop drawings submissions to ensure conformance to project specifications and Subcontractor's scope.
  • Distribute updated design drawings and specifications to subcontractors, as they pertain to their trade.
  • May prepare construction cost budgets from awarded tenders via electronic means.
  • May communicate with supervisors and management at site.
  • Beginning of Coop is expected to be spent on construction project sites assisting fulltime field staff and jobshadowing field coordinators. This will phase into shadowing various other roles throughout the company and transition into working alongside the project management team.
  • Site visits will be required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge in using MS Office and AutoCAD
  • General project management skills (i.e. Budgeting and scheduling)
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet, project scheduling software, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid Driver's License

Salary:
$60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
