Matrix is hiring a Journeyman or Red seal Structural Ironworker/ Metal Fabricator for an exciting, long-term job in Halifax, NS.

We offer $135 LOA, a one-time payment of $600 for Travel, additional overtime and wage parity for this position. This position also offers weekends off to allow for work/life balance. The Structural Iron Workers/ Metal Fabricators will be working indoors in a controlled environment. The pay rate has increased to $43/hr.

Key Responsibilities:

Areas of specialization: shipbuilding, structural metal or steel, plate work, pressure vessel
Measure, cut, grind, fit, align and tack weld parts
The layout of reference points and patterns
Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures
Install interior structures, hatches, doors, bulkheads, etc. to complete all of the steelwork in the ship
Layout construct patterns and templates
Read, interpret, plan, and execute drawings, blueprints, and procedures

Requirements:

Able to lift a weight up to fifty pounds (50 lbs)
A preemployment Government Security Clearance/Background and Credit check will need to be completed
Full PPE + Fit Tested Respirator Mask.

Qualifications:

Shipbuilding experience is an asset
Journeyman or Red seal Ticket
Pipefitting and Ironworking experience is considered an asset
Confined Space
Fall Protection
WHMIS
Must be able to commute to work daily.
