Job Description:


  • Perform preventative/predictive maintenance to all production equipment as required
  • Work side by side with experienced technician during equipment repair and learn smart/safe work practices
  • Complete small electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Supervisor as required by provincial regulation
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures and regulations at all times Initiate and complete all other jobs, projects and special assignments as directed by Maintenance Supervisor
  • Ensure compliance of all Company policies
  • Ensure personal compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act is maintained at all times and recommends measures to improve health and safety
  • Ability to work within a team environment and interact with all areas of production.
  • Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contractors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls and valves.
  • Run new power supply lines to new/relocated equipment according to IEE wiring regulations, Electrical Safety Code and company policy.
  • Wire new control panels according to supplied drawings and verbal instructions while adhering to Hydro Codes and other applicable standards and regulations
  • Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems and complex sequencing
  • Install, examine, replace and repair electronic wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
  • Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts inventory levels;
  • Perform repairs on equipment to restore them to proper and safe work conditions
  • Perform installation, set up, modification and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements
  • Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Make trade calculations for load requirements and select appropriate sizes/grades of components in accordance with current electrical code
  • Ensure production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine break down, or unsafe operating conditions and inform Engineering and Maintenance Manager about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams
  • Always follow LOCK OUT procedure on unsafe machines/machines being serviced
  • Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms; and Organize workplace to comply with housekeeping requirements.
  • Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic, you have working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contractors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors

Qualifications:


Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with strong problemsolving skills preferably honed in a fastpaced manufacturing/industrial environment with multiple priorities

Technical Skills

  • Troubleshooting experience with electrical & mechanical equipment, PLC systems, Robots, AC drives, DC drives, servo drives, motion control, HMI interface, motor controls, safety sensors, and relays.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS) an asset
