The Opportunity


Reporting to the Team Lead, the International Student Recruitment and Partnership Development Officer is primarily responsible for the recruitment of international students and partnership development for SAIT.

This position has a national travel component within Western Canada and requires the incumbent to be out of city for extended periods of time.

While the focus is international student recruitment within Canada, regional assignments overseas may be required.

This position primarily assists in the development of strategies to attract international students, collects information and data on potential markets and helps to implement best practices in marketing and recruitment.

In addition, it will serve as the main on-campus recruitment officer for the department by supporting a variety of regional recruitment activities, events, partnerships, and initiatives; while looking for partnerships with other institutions as well as promoting SAIT's corporate development and project abilities.

This position requires a high degree of adaptability to set priorities and be responsive to the demands of a broad range of stakeholders in an academic setting, both internationally and domestically.

The incumbent is expected to be proactive in contributing to the success of SAIT's international student recruitment within the International Centre and across the institution.


The Role:


Student Recruitment

  • Serve as the lead Recruitment Officer for the International Recruitment team
  • Act as the liaison between the Recruitment Team and other units on campus including scheduling academic presentations, website changes and reviews, triaging FreshDesk tickets, reviewing of promotional and recruitment materials, and Admissions
  • Be available for prospective walk in inquiries and appointments at the International Centre office, and following up on these leads for conversion and data tracking
  • Selecting and attending events in Western Canada that align with enrollment outcomes
  • Lead the implementation of the International High School Strategy in Western Canada
  • Support Enrollment Management in collaboration with the Business Operations team
  • Travel nationally to recruit international students and agents, as well as to participate in international recruitment related activities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the annual International Recruitment Strategy including preparation of business plans for each country, travel budgets and analysis of competition
  • Assist in the development of strategies to effectively market SAIT's capabilities to international students
  • Arrange SAIT's participation in international student recruitment fairs and events both nationally and internationally
  • Provide ongoing follow up with recruitment leads to improve conversion rates
  • Develop proactive communication strategies for prospective students
  • Research strategies and evaluate effectiveness of recruitment and marketing activities (create focus groups for stakeholders, surveys, consult education reps)
  • Update SAIT recruitment and admission systems with recruitmentbased activities
  • Produce trip reports and provide feedback, leads and follow up for each country
  • When possible, collaborate with other Canadian and/or Alberta institutes to market and present joint seminars at recruitment fairs
  • Complete expense reports for all travel in a timely manner based on SAIT's Travel policies and corporate credit card policies
  • Monitor the activities of SAIT's competition in international student recruitment and make recommendations on best strategies in recruitment practice

Agent Relations

  • Often the first point of contact for new and current agents in the country, the incumbent can assess suitability and develop relationships
  • Proactively recruit agents in emerging markets and make recommendations for partnerships
  • Coordinate in country orientation and training for new and current agents
  • Provide input for updates to the Agent Training Manual
  • Agent management
  • Provide input for the semiannual agent report

Management of Partnerships and Projects

  • Establish and maintain relationships with Canadian School High School boards to reach local international student populations
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local community organizations and associations to reach newcomer groups, with the objective of international enrollments
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Canadian Embassies, Alberta Trade Offices and Canadian Immigration, Refugee
