Position Overview:


In consultation with the Manager, Recreation Services, plans, facilitates and evaluates recreation programs to meet the needs of individuals and groups of residents in accordance with the provincially recognized Standards of Practice.


Experience:


  • Experience working as a Recreation Facilitator preferred
  • Experience within the past three (3) years with planning, implementing and evaluating recreation programs.
  • Able to work with mínimal supervision and in a team environment.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Completion of Certificate Program, Recreation Facilitator for older Adults or Bachelors Degree in Recreation Management or Kinesiology.
  • Advanced preparation in the area of geriatric study is preferred
  • It is recommended that, at minimum, staff possess the Family & Friends category of training.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:


  • Food Handler's Certificate required.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Works within the Centre's core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the English language allowing for effective oral and written communication with residents and staff.
  • An interest in and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated with residents, family members, colleague and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates creativity.
  • Nonviolent crisis intervention training is an asset.

  • Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.
