Regional Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Lead - Pulp & Panel
Our Quesnel office is looking for an experienced finance professional for our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team.

The Regional FP&A Lead reports to the FP&A Manager and works on financial planning processes and day-to-day financial analysis activities for all
Pulp & Panel (a key West Fraser business unit).

The Regional FP&A Lead will also support the ongoing development, implementation, and optimization of the Finance operating model for West Fraser as part of the Finance Transformation.


The Regional FP&A Lead has responsibility for the financial analysis required to operate the Pulp & Panel business segment in a sound strategic manner, including budgeting and forecasting, performance analysis, strategic planning, and accounting.

The Regional FP&A Lead supports the development, communication, reporting, and variance analysis activities for budgets, plans, and forecasts for the assigned business segment.

In this capacity, the Regional FP&A Lead is expected to work closely with other members of the FP&A group, the segment's General Managers and operations leaders, and corporate peers and leaders.

Limited travel between locations may be required.


You will ensure the team follows our accounting policies and procedures and will have a strong understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and variance analysis to help improve business segment opportunity analysis and performance.

Key Duties:


  • Serving as the finance liaison to business segment teams and mill leaders
  • Assisting in the development of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Completing and analyzing forecasts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to meet segment, mill, and corporate objectives
  • Working closely with the controller and operational planning functions to ensure that the budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans meet the business and enterprise finance needs
  • Delivering variance analysis of segment financial and operational results, including identification and validation of variances in the region operating plan; assisting in the development and interpretation of "whatif" analyses for key business moves; assisting in the planning for the rollout of new products and services; and the development of business cases for initiatives
  • On an ad hoc basis supporting strategic planning and financial analysis for the segment leadership team and ensuring consistent interpretation and implementation of planning assumptions
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of accurate planning models for individual projects and the aggregated segment

Experience and Education:


  • Five years of relevant financial analysis experience (ideally in financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, reporting, and controls) in a manufacturing and/or projectbased environment
  • CPA professional designation is preferred
  • Public practice experience is preferred
  • Experience working in a SOX control environment is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • A detailed and proactive approach to work
  • A mindset for process improvement and efficiency
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with enterprise project management suites, Oracle EBS, BI reporting is considered an asset
