Student Intern -Ecologist
Are you a co-op student seeking a 4 month internship? Do you want to get involved in delivering environmental components of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects under various Environmental Assessment processes? If so, we are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic student for the position to join our team
Skills and Qualifications:
- Registered as a coop student in a natural sciences program with an accredited university
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
- Must be able to travel to and from various work locations.
Considered an asset:
- Demonstrated knowledge in all aspects of environmental monitoring during construction;
- Knowledgeable in the identification of Ontario flora and fauna (trees, shrubs, wildflowers, grasses, birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, insects, fish and mussels);
- Knowledge of Ontario environmental legislature and permitting related to the Endangered Species Act, Species at Risk Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act;
- MTO and infrastructure experience is an asset; and
- GIS experience.
Parson's Ecological Services Group works both in support of other internal groups (primarily transportation/highways and stormwater management) and also as an independent unit completing ecological assessments and monitoring duties directly for various clients.
