Heritage Wardrobe Assistant
Shift: 35 hours per week with schedule to be determined

Wage:
$ $22.00 per hour based on skills and experience.

Summary:

The Heritage Wardrobe Assistant works on the preparation and presentation of performances. The Wardrobe Assistant is responsible for the visual appearance of all Heritage Presenters onsite. They will research and gather information about clothing, materials, clothing making, and accessories during the Victorian and Edwardian era.

This includes what is seen (clothes, shoes, hats, purses, canes, parasols, jewelry, wigs, makeup, etc.) as well as what isn't seen (corsets, hoops, boning, character elements such as padded stomachs, etc.).

The Assistant will oversee the care and keeping of all wardrobe costuming including creation, fittings, repair and maintenance. They will also create and assemble costumes for events such as Murder Mysteries, High Teas, Cowboy Festival etc.

Main Responsibilities:

Work with the staff collaborating on the preparation and presentation of performances
Research and gather information about clothing, accessories and related props during the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Gather additional information from coworkers including the curatorial and archival staff
Assist in maintaining inventory records of wardrobe and props
Assist with creating replicas of props used for the children's theatre camps
Assist with minor handsewing repairs of wardrobe

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to handsew and stitch for minor repairs of heritage clothing
Work within tight deadlines
Creatively problemsolve within short timeframes
Follow direction and work well with others
Familiar with Google Docs

Considered an asset but not required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working in the hospitality and tourism industry
Occupational First Aid

Preference will be given to those seeking careers or who have an interest in Costume Design and/or Wardrobe for film and stage.

Working Conditions:

On site at O'Keefe Ranch, with desk and office space, within different heritage buildings, outside on the grounds.
