We are recruiting for a part time
Youth Engagement Facilitator to cultivate and activate the potential of all youth to engage with, influence and impact their communities.

This position will support and promote community youth initiatives, and partner with community organizations to develop and co-facilitate opportunities for youth to participate in their community.


Compensation package:


  • From June to August (12 weeks), working up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • From September to May (40 weeks), working up to 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
  • Monday: 8:30am 4:30pm
  • Tuesday: 11:30am 7:30pm
  • Wednesday: 11:30am 7:30pm
  • Thursday: 8:30am 1:30pm
  • Minimum starting rate of pay is $31.02 per hour;
  • 11 paid statutory holidays;

Following the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period:

  • Employer paid sick, personal leave and vacation hours;

Minimum requirements of this position include:

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Services or a related field is preferred, or acceptable equivalency as determined by the employer;
  • Minimum of three (3) years recent fulltime work experience supporting diverse groups of youth inclusive of all abilities, cultures, race, gender, and religion;
  • Previous experience supporting youth in inclusive environments; youth with an identified developmental delay; and/or youth who may be at risk related to one or more Social Determinants of Health;
  • Must have experience collaborating with community partners;
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset.

Duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • To co-facilitate youth groups in the community which promote inclusion, skill building, personal growth and community involvement;
  • Coordinate and support the Youth Advisory Council;
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate services through the DSO for youth who have not been formally identified through the education system;
  • Connect youth with appropriate supports to promote academic success (i.e., tutoring, transition supports);
  • Promote opportunities for youth in collaboration with Empower Simcoe's Marketing and Communications Manager and community partners;
  • Promote a safe environment for all youth through an antioppressive lens;
  • In collaboration with community partners, work with groups of youth to identify group goals and strategies to meet those goals;
  • Provide youth with intellectual disabilities with information about programs such as Transitions and Employment services that will support youth in smooth transition from youth services to adult services;
  • Participate in special event planning and implementation during school breaks (March Break/Summer/Winter Break);

Special factors of this position:


  • Evening work will be a requirement of the position;
  • Weekend work may be required to support community activities/special events;
  • Working out of community locations in both Barrie and Orillia;
  • Must have a valid Class G driver's license and own reliable transportation to be used in the course of employment;
  • Must participate in team meetings and attend training, as required.
