    The Regina Area is seeking a dynamic and team-oriented Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Specialist to immediately fill a 0.9 FTE AFP contracted position.

    The successful candidate will be offered a competitive rate of $2,442 per day for a total of 198 days per year.

    We encourage applicants to apply for a locum position of a minimum of one week if interested in a shorter locum opportunity.


    The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing and managing high-risk pregnancies with maternal and/or fetal diseases.

    This physician will conduct consultations, diagnostic procedures, and sonography reports at the Fetal Assessment Unit at the Regina General Hospital.

    Consultations will include, care plans for complex high-risk pregnancies, diagnosis and management of fetal anomalies and abnormal prenatal aneuploidy screening, care of women with substance use problems, evaluation of teratogen exposures and genetic risks, and diabetes in pregnancy clinics.

    The physician will devise and help implement practice guidelines for optimal obstetrics care in Regina.

    Obstetrical & Gynecological services are based at the Regina General Hospital (our trauma center representing all major surgical specialties, except transplant) with 36 obstetrical beds.

    There are almost 4,000 deliveries each year and a corresponding volume of gynecology. Specialists are supported by a complete range of neonatal, pediatric medical, and surgical sub-specialists.

    In these superb facilities, the region will continue to provide the complete continuum of care and enhance care for pregnant women and newborns.

    The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.

    The physician is eligible for a clinical appointment with the University of Saskatchewan and would be involved in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and in the provision of continuing medical education within the province.

    Job Qualifications

    Successful candidates will hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics and Gynecology, have completed an MFM fellowship, and be eligible for provisional or regular licensure to practice in Saskatchewan.

    Preference will be given to candidates with academic and research experience.

    This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provision of high-quality patient and family-centered care.
