    Position Summary:

    The Director, Talent Management is responsible to shape and drive a talent strategy to ensure MDA Space has the right talent and capabilities to successfully deliver our strategy and ambition. This includes the specific need to identify, assess, integrate, promote, develop and retain talent across MDA Space.

    Job Requirements:

    Talent:

  • Mobilize best in class, global talent related programs across MDA Space, including: performance management, development planning, potential identification, succession management, assessment and career management to advance the identification, performance, development, diversity, retention, engagement, experience and readiness of employees and leaders for today's needs and into the future.
  • Be a credible assessor and developer of talent and assume responsibility for effective succession and organizational planning processes to ensure MDA has the appropriate leaders, including critical talent, hi-potential leaders, and must-have capabilities, which ensure the diverse talent pipeline and bench strength needed today and in the future.
  • Lead the performance management program (objective setting, check-ins, calibrations, year-end assessments and promotions) and development/career planning practices, which includes conducting a current-state assessment of the performance management program and redesigning a best-in-class approach aligned with enterprise culture transformation objectives – this includes processes, system integration, change management, tools/resources.
  • Lead, design, and deliver programs to accelerate the identification and readiness of top & critical key talent across MDA Space to ensure we have the right people with the right skills and knowledge and the right time.
  • Understand and translate succession, leadership pipelines and talent/capability insights to assure our company has the critical talent to execute the strategy.
  • Drive the growth of our top talent by ensuring they have robust development plans to support their professional and career objectives. Ensure accurate talent assessment and robust development discussions. Track and monitor development commitments.
  • Devise and drive effective, inclusive talent management practices that deliver business value and drive a competitive advantage for MDA and partner with key stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), BA and Function Senior Leadership Teams, and broad HR team.
  • Partner with L&D to design, develop, and deliver learning and development initiatives and other interventions focused on accelerating the knowledge and skills of the defined talent populations.
  • Develop career mobility tools, processes, programs to enable all employees to build a meaningful career at MDA Space with ready now and future proofed capabilities.
  • Simplify, automate and digitize talent processes and tools across MDA. Provide expertise and deployment of standardized tools & processes in talent, succession, development, assessment and career management focused on improving individual and organizational performance and a healthy talent pipeline.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a coaching and assessment stratify in support of talent pipeline development, including the establishment of a framework for psychometric tool, vendor selection and evaluation
  • Organization Design & Capability

  • Lead the design and development of organizational design programs and practices that enable a high-performance organization.
  • Lead organization design and effectiveness projects, leveraging capabilities to coach and counsel business leaders on organization and team performance.
  • Align talent initiatives to business strategy and capability strengths, needs and gaps across MDA Space.
  • Introduce strategic workforce planning while advancing and leveraging people analytics, expertise and ongoing research on global leading practices and trends to deliver data-driven insights that advance strategic priorities and objectives in talent.
  • Culture

  • Shape and evolve MDA's culture across the organization, respecting the 'secret sauce' and core values that have created a legacy of success while helping the company to continually evolve and transform in alignment with our business strategy and continued growth.
  • Be the change agent that is planful, collaborative, and experienced in leading and delivering on key initiatives that will both preserve and enhance the organization's culture through its vision, mission, and values. Partner with key leaders to drive and implement effective change leadership and communication practices.
  • Advance MDA Space efforts to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion practices are at the forefront of all people practices and are integrated into all stages of MDA Space's efforts to attract, develop and retain a diverse employee population that embraces an inclusive culture. This includes advancing MDA Space's diversity tracking and reporting efforts.
  • Future of Work and Continuous Improvement

  • Understand and translate the future of work implications for MDA Space. Be responsive and proactively plan and action on the needs and aspirations of the workforce, and consider how careers are evolving in the digital age. Understand the differences of the future employee, such as their values, motivations and expectations,and prepare MDA Space to be successful in attraction, recruitment, retention.
  • Integrate talent related planning and standard processes into the operating model and DNA of MDA Space.
  • Establish and lead a measurement strategy to assess and monitor the effectiveness of talent management programs/processes and to identify and deliver on enhancements that will result in meaningful change.
  • Coach a team of human resources professionals to advance current capabilities to drive and sustain best-in class Talent Management programs, processes and practices.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to continuously evolve, successfully implement, communicate, launch and assess the effectiveness of talent programs/processes to meet the future needs of the organization.
  • Stay on top of external market, best practices and trends to continually refine company-wide talent management programs and processes.
  • Job Requirements:

    Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in HR/OD or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of talent and organization development experience or a combination of HR generalist experience with a strong expertise in leading and delivering on company-wide talent management programs.
  • 10+ years of people and project leadership of company-wide talent programs.
  • Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated business acumen and ability to tie talent agenda to strategic business objectives. Action oriented with a drive for results.
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills, locally and globally; earns high credibility, is sought out for their input and counsel, and collaboratively works across functional boundaries and locations.
  • Highly effective thought partner, able to articulate key messages in an inspiring and compelling manner to a range of stakeholders inside and outside of MDA Space.
  • Experienced leader, coach and mentor who can motivate and empower teams during a period of change as well as engage at all levels.
  • Experienced in delivering diversity, culture and talent management practices with a strong knowledge and application of change management principles.
  • Pragmatic, principled and takes a practical "roll up their sleeves" approach to collaborate and get things done.
  • Savvy in political and organizational dynamics and realities. Ability to manage through ambiguity and conflict.
  • Comments/Special Considerations:

  • Successful candidates must obtain and hold a security clearance at the Reliability Status level, and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
