Manager, Volunteer Services & Community Outreach


Status:
Full-Time, 6-month contract


Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Remote Hybrid)


Reporting to:
Director, Quality & Communications


Job Summary:


The Manager of Volunteer Services & Community Outreach holds a critical role in the agency's commitment and efforts to support seniors, adults with disabilities and their caregivers living in their own homes.

Volunteers are essential in our programs, and it is the responsibility of the Manager of Volunteer Services & Community Outreach to recruit, interview, place, train, schedule and support our volunteers.

Implementing community outreach activities to increase the awareness of our agency, and in particular our volunteer opportunities, is a key expectation of this position.

Reports regularly on the impact of volunteer services and community engagement strategies, including providing recommendations for improvements and initiatives to strengthen Volunteer Services.


Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

  • The recruitment of volunteers for all services and programs, including postings, screening, interviews, and placement
  • Implements effective recruitment strategies with a focus on community outreach activities both inperson and virtually to increase awareness of agency and volunteer opportunities
  • In collaboration with other staff, responsible for the orientation, ongoing training, and support of volunteers
  • Maintains regular and ongoing contact and supervision of volunteers
  • Plans and implements formal and informal recognition events and activities
  • Conducts volunteer satisfaction surveys and exit interviews and analyzes results
  • Enters and maintains accurate volunteer data, including volunteer profiles and volunteer schedules and service hours
  • Evaluates and provides regular reports of volunteer services
  • Maintains volunteer policies, procedures, and handbooks

Qualifications:


  • Post secondary education in volunteer management, health or social services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience recruiting and supporting volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, colleagues, supervisors, community partners, and other stakeholders to achieve agency's mission.
  • Experience working with seniors an asset
  • Experience with community outreach activities
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, diplomacy and good judgment
  • Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel and statistical reporting. Experience with Alayacare an asset.
  • Strong time management, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Valid driver's license and access to car.
  • Must be able to provide proof of full COVID19 vaccination, upon hire.
