ABOUT THE ROLE
We are actively seeking an Intern, University Sector Engagement, to join our team in Fall 2024, for a 4-month internship (September December This role will be part of a growing and dynamic Engagement team, reporting to Director, Engagement.

The incumbent will work collaboratively with members of the Engagement team and be responsible for supporting engagement and outreach within the Ontario university sector by performing research and analysis, preparing presentation decks and background materials for external and internal use, and maintaining the team's client relationship tracking through a CRM tool.

UPP is based in Toronto's financial district and has a hybrid work model (minimum 2 days / week in office).

Please note that this is a paid internship opportunity.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conduct research on sector stakeholders or pension topics.
  • Conduct indepth research and analysis on single employer pension plans, financial statements, collective agreements, and other relevant documents.
  • Using a variety of qualitative and quantitative factors, analyse how UPP would fit and provide value to a prospective university community.
  • Prepare presentation decks and background materials to support outreach efforts.
  • Support the communication and presentation of information about UPP and how it compares with an employer's current pension plan.
  • Contribute to outreach meeting preparation and logistics coordination.
  • Participate in internal strategy discussions related to sector engagement.
  • Update and maintain the Engagement team's CRM tool.
  • Contribute to UPP's reputation as a respectful employer, partner, and participant in the financial services sector.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Current student or recent graduate from a discipline that requires strong quantitative skills and involves conducting thorough research.
  • Strong ability to write and convey complex information in an audience focussed, accessible manner.
  • Experience preparing presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Experience setting up and manipulating spreadsheets in Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct indepth research with the ability to distill to clear, concise findings.
  • Some familiarity with pensions (academic or industry) an asset.
  • Experience working with Salesforce is an asset.
