Reporting to the Administrative Manager, 2A, 2B and Transitional Care Unit (TCU), the Coordinator ‐ Medical

Inpatient Units supports and provides clinical leadership for inpatient medicine units. The Coordinator is responsible,

under the direction of the Administrative Manager, working with the program/service leadership team to plan and

coordinate the day to day activities related to quality and safety on evening and night shifts. This individual will

provide clinical and professional leadership to facilitate a safe and effective work environment, that embraces both

efficiency and professional accountability amongst all staff members and in collaboration with the Administrative

Manager, ensure and monitor the quality of patient care and professional standards of practice.

The Coordinator Medical Inpatient Unit bases their decisions on the Mission, Vision, and Values of Thunder Bay

Regional Health Sciences Centre (The Hospital), the principles of Patient and Family Centered Care,

Inter-professional Collaboration, continuous quality improvement, the College of Nurses of Ontario and Canadian

Nurses Association


Qualifications:

  • Unencumbered registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of acute care nursing experience, working as an RN or RPN
  • Excellent clinical skills and competencies,
  • Outstanding communication skills,
  • Previous experience teaching, working with learners and/or in a preceptor role
  • Previous experience as Clinical Instructor or placement supervisor, and
  • Demonstrated leadership, change management, and problem‐solving skills.
  • CNA certification preferred
  • Commitment to excellence with demonstrated leadership qualities, decision making and problem solving skills and
clinical credibility.

  • Knowledge of practice standards and guiding principles to foster professional practice and accountability.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills in order to monitor and address the needs of a large group of staff.
  • Highly motivated, team player with the ability to work within a dynamic transformational clinical redesigning process.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, Word Processing, Excel

Salary Range:
$47.802 to 56.238
