The Opportunity
JJM Construction is looking for a Skilled Labourer to join the team.


Responsibilities and Best Practices

The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the essential functions, while providing the highest quality construction services and products safely, effectively and efficiently to ensure JJM Construction's principle of "Building to Last" endures for future generations.

• Responsible for carrying out all work functions at construction sites in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
• Perform tasks involving physical labour on construction sites in accordance with JJM policies and procedures.
• Tasks include but are not limited to: manual labour, cleaning, preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris, remove waste materials, load and unload construction materials, assisting heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment, operate hand tools as directed, tend to/feed equipment such as mixers, compressors and pumps.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers via hand signals and radio communications while guiding/directing moving equipment.
• Clean, maintain and secure all equipment and property as directed by JJM policies and procedures.
• Perform other site duties or functions, consistent with status or vocational ability as may be required from time to time.
• Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
• Represent JJM to the public in a manner that is consistent with corporate values and goals.
• Lead by example.

Qualifications
JJM Construction Ltd. is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace with safety as a primary consideration in all we do.

• Minimum of three (3) years' experience on a construction site.
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Physically fit, with excellent stamina and the ability to perform hard manual labour.
• CSTS90 certificate (CSTS2020 preferred).
• Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract (per company insurance requirements).
• H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry & Rescue, Standard First Aid (OFA Level 1) and WHMIS are an asset.

Health and Safety

• Strictly adhere to the JJM Construction OHS Manual.
• Follow JJM Construction safe work practices and safe job procedures.
• Follow the BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, specifically, Part 1
• Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
