YOUR CHALLENGE
Reporting to the Vice President of Public Affairs and Communication, North America, and working closely with the Senior Advisor, Public and Governmental affairs, your role and responsibilities as a Public Affairs and Communications Advisor in Quebec include:

  • Collaborate on the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies and government relations
  • Collaborate closely with the Development team and assist them in developing renewable energy projects through strategic communications and grassroot engagement
  • Organize public events, such as information and consultation sessions and open houses
  • Manage and maintain key internal and external communications assets and channels such as newsletters, organizational announcements, press releases, social media and editorials
  • Write, edit and maintain quality control of communications content, including articles, videos, social media, website, etc.
  • Represent Boralex before local stakeholders and within business associations, environmental and sustainability organizations and the renewable energy sector by participating in working groups, conferences, and committees
  • Support the Quebec Development team in drafting bid packages for calls for tenders, through the identification of key stakeholders, the development of content, and creative approaches to tender solicitations
  • Contribute to the preparation internal communications documents to guide internal awareness of policy developments, proposed legislation and regulations, and other government policies that could impact Boralex's development and operations in Quebec
  • Collaborate with the Quebec Operations team to assist them in managing issues related to the electricity production activities of our operational assets
  • Work in partnership with the Quebec Operations team and the Corporate Communications team in a crisis to preserve the organization's reputation
  • Generate ideas and identify key moments in time for creative storytelling opportunities to contribute to the Boralex brand
  • Partner with colleagues across the North American Business Unit to ensure strategic alignment and leverage Boralex's full resources
  • Identify opportunities to modernize internal communications, make process improvements, and drive efficiencies
  • Identify and track key performance metrics to report on results

YOUR SKILLS

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (public relations, government, communications or other)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in communication
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and in English
  • Confidence in communicating across a wide variety of platforms, including digital, written, and inperson presentations
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.);
  • Available to travel in U.S. and Canada, most travel will be in Quebec
  • Able to work under pressure and manage a number of projects simultaneously with very short deadlines
  • Able to work as part of a team and establish good relationships
  • Cognizant of the need to maintain confidentiality and corporate image, and a keen interest in current events within the public and political spheres.
  • Experience with the media a plus
