Project Manager (QuickFab)
JNE Welding has been providing quality custom steel fabrications for resource-based industries for more than 40 years. The primary responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Company safety guidelines, safe work practices, and job procedures.
  • Performing hazard assessments as required in accordance with JNE's health and safety standards, for both shop and fieldbased projects.
  • Preparing time and material estimates for jobs involving structural steel, plate, piping, pressure vessel work, general fabrication, and repair work, including providing support to the primary estimating team, as well as preparing change order estimates using the same estimating tools provided.
  • Monitoring jobs to ensure they stay on budget (time and cost) and preparing various forms of reports if/when required (EV, ETC, critical path scheduling, change order documentation, etc.).
  • Ensuring compliance with all project and company safety requirements and communicating these requirements to all concerned parties.
  • Establishing and maintaining customer relationships as an ambassador for the Company, including ensuring all project requirements are managed, concerns from internal and external stakeholders are addressed, and striving for win/win outcomes.
  • Undertaking business development operations on behalf of the Company, with a primary focus on QuickFab work, but with the knowledge and skills to promote all the Company's capabilities when appropriate.
  • Establishing project timelines and monitoring/maintaining schedules using resource allocation spreadsheets, direct communication with QuickFab Shop Supervisor(s), and Assistant QuickFab Project Manager, and integration/collaboration with Company mainstream production planning.
  • Ensuring effective utilization of all available resources and ensuring constraintbased focus through coordinating with the Production Manager, to ensure success of all Company projects.
  • Facilitating material purchasing and overseeing effective usage of materials.
  • Overseeing completion of job (material return to inventory, suppliers, closeout meetings, etc.)
  • Coordinating the shipping and receiving of materials and finished products in conjunction with the Shipping and Receiving department.
  • Solving technical problems in conjunction with customer and Company resources as required.
  • Identifying, presenting, and implementing improvements in production, policy, and procedures.
  • Identifying, presenting, and implementing cost saving measures.
  • Providing accurate and timely invoicing information to accounting for progress and final billing.
  • Generating printed invoices and processing billing using credit and debit POS equipment.
  • Providing mentorship, support, and constructive feedback to Assistant QuickFab Project Manager, this includes annual reviews and oneonone meetings.
  • Maintaining appropriate confidentiality of Company, customer, and supplier information.

Experience, skills, and attributes:


  • 5+ years of steel fabrication experience preferably in the role of welder or fitter with exposure to ASME.
  • Strong analytical thinking/problem solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Capable of developing creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience working in an environment that requires a high level of flexibility with respect to roles and responsibilities, strong priority/time management skills, and the ability to manage multiple independent assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to read/interpret various forms of drawings (engineering, fabrication/IFC, concept, etc.).
  • Strong skills/competency in Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis on Excel and Teams or a willingness/ability to learn.
  • Strong general computer skills with the ability and willingness to learn new software as required.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to support both internal and external customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a positive, teamoriented attitude.
  • Must be motivated and possess a strong focus towards professional development, with a desire to continuously expand knowledge base and enhance skill level.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize objectives and manage time appropriately to meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions within the scope of the role.

Certifications and other credentials considered an asset:

  • Journeyman/Red Seal status in one or both the disciplines of welding and metal fabrication.
  • Education and training in Project Management specifically with focus on PMI methodologies.
  • Training and/or demonstrated competency in the Autodesk softw
