Job Description:


Total Fund Management Department
The Total Fund Management ("TFM") department is responsible for the successful implementation of the Fund's investment framework.

These activities are focused primarily on the Strategic Portfolio, our long-term vision for the intended investment portfolio composition five or more years into the future.

TFM also works with the active Investment Departments to effectively characterize and allocate to active investment strategies, with the aim of delivering the Strategic Portfolio over time.

TFM also works on the total Fund daily investment cycle, including all the processes, systems, and data needed to structure the investment portfolio in response to the on-going flow of cash and exposures into and out of the Fund.


TFM consists of five groups:

Portfolio Design & Construction (PD&C); Active Investment Management (AIM); Exposure, Leverage & Liquidity Management (ELLM); Applied Research and Models (ARM); Trading; and Strategy & Operations (S&O).


We are presently recruiting for a
Portfolio Manager (PM) to join the Portfolio Strategy team within Strategy & Operations (S&O-PS) in the Total Fund Management department.

Reporting to the S&O group lead (S&O-MD), the PM will be responsible for the overall development and implementation of mandate, vision, strategy and objectives for the Portfolio Strategy team.

The PM-S&O will work closely with the S&O-MD to support the CIO in various investment related activities and projects, as well as work with the TFM leadership team to establish and drive implementation of the department level strategy and objectives.


As a member of the team providing centralized support to the Chief Investment Officer and the TFM Group Heads, the PM will support a wide range of activities as summarized below.


Role-Specific Accountabilities:

Team leadership

  • Develop, and be accountable for the implementation of S&O-PS strategy and objectives and proactively reprioritize team activities to ensure team is focused on those that are most impactful.
  • Lead, develop and coach the S&O-PS team to deliver on the team mandate while operating under the TFM aspirational culture (inclusive, accountable, collaborative, outcomes oriented).
  • Working closely with S&O-MD and TFM leadership, develop and drive implementation of TFM vision, investment strategy and annual department objectives.
  • Support CIO on ad hoc emerging issues and special projects related to investment framework/activities.

TFM and Total Fund investment performance and attribution

  • Contribute to attribution thought leadership working closely with senior advisor(s), CIO, leaders in TFM as well as key individuals within Finance and Risk to evolve the attribution framework including methodologies and processes enabling us to continuously improve our investment decision making.
  • Contribute to the evolution of performance metrics for TFM to effectively capture the various investment decisions/activities mandated for the department.
