We are hiring a full-time permanent

Specialist, Consolidated Management Reporting working out of EPCOR Tower, located in Edmonton, AB


The Specialist, Consolidated Management Reporting is primarily accountable for preparing monthly financial results for Senior Management and preparing quarterly external financial results, including Management Discussion & Analysis and media releases, for approval by the Board.

This includes ensuring accurate and timely reporting and achieving the required outcomes with time spans of up to 12 months.

This position may be eligible for EPCOR's hybrid work program

What you'd be responsible for

  • Developing, implementing and reviewing processes related to the position to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and to ensure mitigation of risks.
  • Preparation of the internal monthly consolidated financial results for Senior Management, and quarterly financial results for the Audit Committee, including provision of guidance to Senior Managers and Controllers in all EPCOR Business Units and Corporate Accounting for consistent presentation of consolidated results including variance analysis.
  • Preparation of external financial information including EPCOR's quarterly media release, Management Discussion & Analysis and other external reports for approval by the Board, as required, including provision of guidance to, and collaboration with EPCOR's Business Units, Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Corporate Tax Group, Risk Management, and Business Development group to enable the timely and accurate preparation of these reports.
  • Exercising confidentiality, influence and decision making with regards to prepublicly disclosed information on business development activities and variance explanations of a sensitive nature as it relates to EPCOR's consolidated management reporting; Ensuring compliance with all applicable financial reporting standards, approved accounting policies and all Senior Management, Audit Committee, Board and external filing requirements.
  • Providing input and recommendations to Senior Management regarding how preliminary agreements and contracts for new acquisitions/divestitures are written to ensure that EPCOR is able to clearly account and disclose these transactions.
  • Providing support and guidance to all Business Units to ensure completion and reconciliation of intercompany elimination entries, as well as GST, income tax, deferred taxes and other transactions required as part of the Consolidation process.
  • Preparation and/or review of consolidated working papers to support the financial information being presented in EPCOR's Consolidated Financial Statements.
  • Providing support and assistance in responding to inquiries from EPCOR's auditors.
  • Preparation of consolidated budget and forecasts variance analysis and presentation working papers in collaboration with the Manager, Financial Reporting and all Business Units.
  • Identifying accounting issues, performing research and considering impacts of issues on consolidated reporting practices and internal controls, including recommending solutions, and communicating accounting impacts to key personnel.
  • Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievementoriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
What's required to be successful

  • An accredited accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA and CGA).
  • Diploma or Degree (or Equivalent) in Business, Finance or Accounting from a recognized postsecondary institution.
  • At least 6+ years of directly related and progressively responsible professional accounting experience.
  • A good understanding of current IFRS accounting guidance and policies.
  • Understanding of EPCOR financial processes will be considered an asset.
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience of Oracle financial system and related support systems, specifically Oracle General Ledger, Business Intelligence, Adaptive Insights and Office Connect, will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
