About Us:


Western Continuing Studies (WCS) is the educational bridge between Western University and the global community, from its downtown location in London to its satellite campuses in Trois-Pistoles and Rimouski, Quebec.

Through innovative leadership in lifelong learning, WCS creates and delivers responsive and accessible programs, including non-credit and credit courses in public interest, post-degree diplomas, French immersion, experiential learning, corporate training and Western eLearn.

In partnerships with faculties, employers and professional associations, the unit reflects the academic mandate and vision of the University and its vision, mission, mandate and operating principles are integrated with those of the institution.


Responsibilities:


The Program Manager has direct accountability for the development, maintenance and delivery of a large and complex portfolio of professional development, personal enrichment and corporate training programs, and is accountable for meeting financial targets in a cost recovery/ profit generating model.

The Program Manager is responsible for the overall quality of programs and for the leadership and direct supervision of staff and instructors supporting the portfolio.

Through regular contact with employers, professional associations and community partners and stakeholders, the Program Manager researches and identifies opportunities for new course and program initiatives, and ensures development and delivery by industry experts using innovative technologies.

The Program Manager is responsible for fostering and maintaining effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications:


Education:


  • Masters Degree in Adult Education, Education, Business, Social Science or a related field

Experience:


  • 3 years demonstrated leadership in a fastpaced and entrepreneurial environment
  • 3 years experiences with finance and budgetary processes, including the development and administration of budgets
  • 3 years experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated work history of establishing and maintaining positive professional relationships with employees and colleagues in a variety of roles at all levels
  • Program development and implementation in higher education is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced leadership, supervisory and management skills
  • Knowledge of adult education principles and practices and proven program design and curriculum development skills
  • Ability and willingness to stay abreast of career and employment trends and the challenges and opportunities in continuing education in Canada and the U.S.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and expectations and provide excellent customer service directly and indirectly to satisfy expectations
  • Proven track record in creating and sustaining revenue growth
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
  • Advanced ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing), lead business discussions and train others
  • Excellent presentation skills (both creating and performing presentations)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach team members as well as support internal/external clients
  • Self motivated and ability to work in a fastpaced environment, meet tight deadlines and adapt to growth and change
  • A welldefined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills
