Job Summary:
To maintain transfer fingers for press shop job runs and back-up for Press Set-Up Operator


Required Education and Experience:


  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of manufacturing experience in press transfer finger setup
  • Possess good mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent English Communication Skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent attendance
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimum supervision and directions
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player
  • Support Quality System, Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems requirements
  • Ability to work well under pressure and able to utilize problem solving techniques effectively
  • Willing to perform other duties/tasks that are of reasonable request by the Press Supervisor

Essential Functions:


  • Maintain transfer fingers, fabricating, testing, connecting, and adjusting transfer fingers
  • Conduct PM's on transfer rails, potential replacement of hoses, and sensor cables
  • Setup fingers on transfers and ensure all sensors are functional before running
  • Perform minor fabrication like welding, drilling, saw etc
  • Fix and improve die scrap guides
  • Implement colour code on fingerrails
  • Order spare parts, manage and coordinate with supervisor and Tool Crib on the parts
  • Adjust sensors and periodically check the sensors for any damages
  • Set up new transfer jobs when switching dies, assemble fingers and program transfers
  • Set up fingers in a time manner and ensure smooth functioning of the dies
  • Participate in change over at all presses
  • Complete reports for the status of activities and projects as schedules
  • Update check sheets, complete all paperwork for preventive maintenance
  • Backup for Press Set Up Operator
  • Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or the coworkers placed in an unsafe condition

Working Environment:


  • 100% plant floor (PPE required)

Physical Demands:


  • Require communication with employees, peers and management
  • Lifting and pushing as needed

Health and Safety:


  • Must work in accordance with health and safety regulations, company rules, plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company.
  • All employees are prohibited from walking under a suspended hoist, cranes or forklifts.
  • All employees must follow all LOTO procedures
  • Comply with all environmental requirements including our recycling program.
