    Description
    Responsibilities :
  • Generate concepts for components.
  • Generate detailed manufacturing design and drawings.
  • Develop 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Generate standard toolbox libraries for 3D models.
  • Generate P&ID using CAD software.
  • Generate engineering Bills of Materials in AX.
  • Review drawings when assigned.
  • Improve drawing control procedures and company standard practices.
  • Control drawings as per company procedures.
  • Create detailed design of components for IMW products. This includes the generation and review of:
  • Layout drawings
  • Manufacturing Drawings
  • Specification and selection of equipment
  • Bills of Materials
  • Work instructions
  • Manuals
  • Material requisitions
  • Design calculations
  • Generation and control of engineering documents as per company procedures.
  • Estimate costs when assigned.
  • May be assigned project engineering responsibilities when required. In this capacity the Mechanical Engineer would coordinate, oversee, check and ensure timely completion of the project tasks.
  • Coordinate projects when assigned.
  • Know and understand workplace health and safety rights and responsibilities.
  • Follow safe work procedures and act safely in the workplace at all times.
  • Maintain a safe working environment within the department and on each job.
  • Use the protective clothing, devices, and equipment required for the job.
  • Complete all applicable quality records.
  • Perform work in accordance with IMW-documented policies and procedures.
  • Perform calculations for sizing of process control components, such as piping control valves, relief valves, heat exchangers, regulators, etc.
  • Perform pressure calculations according to applicable design codes such as ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC, and Pressure Equipment Directive.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Qualifications:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or enrolled as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in Canada.
  • Training or experience in ASME codes Section VII Div 1, ANSI B31.3 and CSA B51.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in machine design preferably in reciprocating compressors.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in preparing detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Background in mechanical design of heat exchangers, vessels, piping, and assemblies is an asset.
  • Experience in assemblies of machines/compressors.
  • Background in process systems design is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production staff and vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure information is correctly documented and put into action.
  • Formal training or experience in Enterprise Resource Planning/Material Requirements Planning Software.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn new programs as required

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to make decisions, give clear and concise directions and to carry them out.
  • Good analytical skills are required to allow computation of engineering design parameters.
