Primary functionThis position will be responsible for providing a broad range of clerical and administrative support to the Lawyer Services & Payments Department.
Main responsibilities will include administering requests for reviews of discretion decisions, disbursements and costs and recoveries, and other correspondence sent through Legal Aid Online and the LSP general mailbox.
This position will also be responsible for assisting the Manager with modernization projects when requiredHome Location:

Key accountabilities
- Create a variety of correspondence using word processing templates
- Review correspondence received through Legal Aid Online to determine the nature of the request and assign to the appropriate worklist and staff member based on department protocols.
- Upload incoming mail and faxes into Legal Aid Online on a daily basis, review and assign to the appropriate worklist and staff member based on department protocols
- Send out mail, faxes, on a daily basis
- Telephone calls to lawyers and law firms in response to time sensitive requests
- Receive and record cheques for recoveries
- Review and proofread outgoing documents and correspondence to ensure compliance with legal aid procedures and grammatical usage
- Maintain an electronic filing system, keep track of correspondence, files,
- Attend meetings to take minutes when requested
- Perform other general office duties as assigned
- High school diploma plus completion of an administrative skills community college program, or a skills/experience equivalency acquired through previous responsible administrative training or experience
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with lawyers and clients
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and detailoriented
