Position Summary


The
Manager - Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating Peel Regional Police's diversity and inclusion initiatives, including planning, developing, and managing robust diversity and inclusion strategies, programs and projects, fostering a culture of respect, equity, and accessibility that is free of discrimination for all members and ensuring that the Peel Regional Police service is inclusive, barrier-free, and reflective of the population of Peel Region.


Responsibilities

What will your typical day look like?

  • Partners with Peel Regional Police's Diversity and Inclusion Working Group to develop and implement a diversity and inclusion strategy.
  • Collaborates across the organization to ensure a diversity strategy is thoroughly implemented by providing recommendations and operational tactics.
  • Provides expert knowledge of principles related to employment equity, intercultural communication, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Fosters inclusive leadership, collaboration, and innovation, and eliminate hidden and/or unfair barriers to success in the workplace.
  • Manages the annual diversity and inclusion accountability process and provide updates to senior leadership and the Peel Regional Police Services Board.
  • Works with key HR Partners to attract, retain, and advance top talent from underrepresented backgrounds and report on progress to senior leadership.
  • Serves as a change agent and influencer to provide strategies, solutions, training, tools, resources, and thought leadership on diversity and inclusion.
  • Provides insight, data and analytics, and content around inclusion and diversity to support change management initiatives, learning, and communication strategies at Peel Regional Police.
  • Develops and implements reporting and monitoring mechanisms that track the progress and overall effectiveness of diversity and inclusion programs, initiatives, and activities at Peel Regional Police.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You are someone with:


  • A University degree in Human Resources, Diversity and Human Rights, Social Studies, Law or a related field. Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources and/or Diversity and Inclusion or Human Rights and Equity, with demonstrated experience in managing people, resources and budgets
  • Demonstrated track record of success in leading, influencing, and managing diversity and inclusion programs, steering committees, working groups, and employee resource groups
  • Project or program management experience, especially as it relates to human rights and diversity, including developing and managing short
- and long-term initiatives

  • Experience presenting to senior level management to influence organizational leadership
  • Experience developing and delivering diversity and inclusion processes, tools, and programs
  • Experience leveraging demographic data to provide evidencebased guidance and advice
  • Experience in metric reporting, conducting research and analysis and defining reporting processes
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships with senior executives and employees at all levels
  • Ability to foster and promote cooperation and work collaboratively while promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to deal effectively with all levels of management and external stakeholders
  • Selfmotivated, outside of the box thinker with the ability to take ownership of projects
  • Ability to develop and communicate an overall strategic vision as well as ability to execute the details
  • Respect for a strict code of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of employment and related legislation (e.g. Ontario Human Rights Code, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Police Services Act)
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and a broad awareness of current trends and developments in financial planning and reporting
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage staff, including supervision, labour relations, and training & performance development
  • Demonstrated planning, time management and organizational skills

The salary range for this
