Plains has an immediate opening for a Rail Team Lead at our Dewdney Terminal near Regina, Saskatchewan.

Reporting to the Plains Petroleum Transport Company (PPTC) Area Supervisor, you will provide front-line leadership for the Rail Operations group.

You will ensure adequate scheduling for planned work and ensure operations technicians and rail operators execute their tasks in a safe, proficient, and timely manner that complies with Plains' standards, policies, and procedures as well as regulatory requirements.

Additionally, you will be accountable for managing risk; meeting production targets and quality standards; creating and managing operational budgets; and supporting our safety culture.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership, scheduling, coaching, training, and performance reviews for rail loaders and switch crews.
  • Lead and / or manage team's competency sign offs, progressions, and training.
  • Execute supervisory duties including but not limited to jobservations, railway operating rules efficiency tests; change management; auditing (LOTOs, permits); and procedure development, review, and compliance assurance.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership by facilitating safety meetings; ensuring compliance with all training requirements, SWPs, and SOPs; and participating in incident/near miss investigations.
  • Develop and manage maintenance O&M budgets and capital budgets for area of responsibility.
  • Create, manage, and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities associated with rail operations and attend daily maintenance meetings as required.
  • Support the Rail Analyst as required by interacting with Commercial regarding customer orders, changes, requests, and issues.
  • Work closely with the Operations and Maintenance team leaders to optimize production performance and equipment reliability.
  • Conduct analysis of reliability incidents and lead / support root cause and failure analysis (RCFA) teams to identify corrective actions.
  • Ensure outstanding work is properly prioritized / risk ranked, coordinated, and executed following the Work Execution Management process (WEMP).
  • Provide coverage in the absence of Operations / Maintenance Team Leads.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Recognized trade certification or technical diploma considered an asset
  • 10+ years of handson experience maintaining oil & gas pipeline systems / assets
  • Subject matter expert in GeoMetrix / Yardmaster
  • Knowledge of Maximo or relevant CMMS
  • Understanding of the Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR)
  • Selfstarter with demonstrated time management skills, the ability to influence others, and lead by example
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including preemployment D&A testing
