Instructional Assistant

Under the direction of the Coordinator of Learning Support, this role works independently and as part of a team to provide extensive support primarily to academic and cultural components of Indigenous Academic Upgrading programs at a satellite campus in an Indigenous community. The Instructional Assistant manages operations of a networked computer learning lab, test writing and learning centre.

Key Duties Include:

• Providing leadership and support to students by reinforcing program objectives and individual learning plans, answering questions, providing guidance while adapting to instructor styles.
• Responding to student inquiries in-person verbally or in writing providing information advice using strong interpersonal skills active listening empathy clear articulation ensuring daily communication is checked replied.

The successful candidate will work effectively with adults having learning disabilities sensitivity towards learners with multi-barrier issues responding needs these learners demonstrate excellent communication time-management organizational problem-solving conflict resolution skills maintain positive relationships foster trusting environment for all students promoting success education
