We are looking for an Experienced Snow Operations Manager...

Cassian, a leading snow and ice company and a part of
Horizon Contracting Group, is looking for a new Operations Manager to lead the company through another successful year (previous year generated $8 million).


Our perfect fit would be someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and help build the infrastructure for an even more successful season, and beyond Being tech-savvy and familiar with building and executing training programs and SOPs is required.

We're looking to have this role filled by May 2023**- **
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generating Sales
  • Lead Generation
  • Cold Calling
  • Relationship building and maintenance of current and new clients
  • Promoting the Horizon "one stop shop"
  • Subcontractor recruiting
  • Ensure they are a fit for the Company.
  • Ensure that they are able to be covered by our insurance, or have their own snow liability insurance, as required
  • Strategic Planning
  • Integrations of future acquisitions
  • Annual strategic planning
  • Sales
  • Contractors
  • Procurement
  • Ordering and maintaining stock of all materials (ie: Ice Melt) and equipment (ie: shovels, spreaders)
  • Communicating stock levels between locations
  • Approving invoices for purchases
  • Estimating
  • Identify all scopes and price appropriately.
  • Complete site visits as required.
  • Ensure all quotes are sent out and submitted in a timely manner
  • Follow up as required and take feedback from clients
  • Act as a primary point of contact for all snow and salt contracts
  • Internal and external conflict resolution
  • Invoicing for final review
  • Client and Vendor Relations
  • Customer feedback generation
  • Working with local branch teams on leads and contracts
  • Quality control, site visits as required
  • Finance responsibilities
  • Monthly BVA Reviews
  • AR Follow up
  • Annual Budget and Capital Expenditures creation and accountability
  • Lead crew meetings seasonally
  • Safety meetings
  • Quality control
  • Divisional updates
  • Complete employee related BambooHR requests in a timely manner
  • Vacation requests
  • Pay/job status changes
  • Peer Reviews, Assessments and Goals
  • Subcontractor personnel management
  • Scheduling
  • Payments
  • Performance Review
  • Review and approve payroll for division's employees and subcontractors
  • Create and maintain role specific training for all positions within Company and ensure that training is completed
  • Complete and assist snow and salt crews' orientation and training
  • Process documentation evolution
  • Assist the Human Resources and Safety Department with recruiting, training and safety initiatives as required
  • Liaise with Fleet Manager on truck insurance documentation and requirements
  • Assist Director of Services as required
  • Manage repairs and maintenance for inhouse maintenance shop
  • Order and maintain tracking system for ordering equipment and supplies/materials
  • Complete all preseason and postseason duties as required
  • Complete any additional duties as assigned as required
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Weekly 1:1 Meetings with Director of Services
  • Review KPIs
  • Review Billing
  • Rock Reviews
  • Assist field teams as required if shorthanded
  • Complete any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Services
  • Attend and participate in company events and initiatives

JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION

  • Completion of Secondary School
  • Postsecondary education in industry related topics an asset
  • Certified Snow Professional (CSP) designation an asset

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years' experience in an Operations Management in Snow Related Role:


  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role:
-
Experience driving a snow plow or deicing truck an asset:


  • Experience operating skid steer loader (bobcat) an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, some public speaking is required
  • Strong computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and tracking skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong knowledge of navigating the Lower Mainland an asset
  • Excellent map reading comprehension an asset
  • Demonstrated safe driving record an asset
  • Ability to deal with conflict resolution and negotiation an asset

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires time sitting using a computer while also being able to stand/walk for longer stretches of time. Bending, twisting, and lifting in excess of 50lbs is required on occasion. Individuals should be in average physical conditio
