    Pride Bodies Ltd., a Wabtec Company in Cambridge, Ontario, offers custom design and truck-body manufacturing and upfitting of utility, service, construction, railway and other custom truck bodies. Our environmentally-friendly truck bodies are researched, designed and customized to our customers' satisfaction.

    Who will you be working with?

    As a member of the team at Pride Bodies Ltd., you will be working daily in the Welding Department with the Welding Supervisor and a group of approximately 8 other Welders.

  • Uphold priorities of Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Teamwork;
  • Perform work that is accurate and finished so that your internal customers, the Paint and Assembly Departments, can perform their work without disruption.
  • What do we want to know about you?

  • High School/GED diploma required;
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance;
  • Stamina and strength to perform manual labour; eagerness to learn on the job;
  • Certified or willing to obtain CWB certification in aluminum and steel;
  • Able to read blue-print drawings and interpret them along with weld symbols;
  • Experience in welding/fabrication and fitting skills in aluminum and steel;
  • Able to read tape measure correctly;
  • Able to learn quickly and progress at a reasonable pace;
  • Troubleshoot problems and take corrective action;
  • Work with Supervisor and Engineering to prototype new designs;
  • Be team focused and task oriented;
  • What will your typical day look like?

  • Understand instructions and carry them out efficiently within the given deadline;
  • Apply safe automotive/manufacturing work practices and become familiar with equipment (saw, drill press, iron worker, welding machine);
  • Read and understand shop drawings to enable independent work;
  • Set up and maintain shop tools and equipment; learn to set up and maintain new tools and equipment as required;
  • Use overhead and gantry cranes efficiently and safely and exhibit safe rigging practices;
  • MIG (steel and aluminum) and manual plasma cut;
  • Set up welding machines to weld different thicknesses of material;
  • Ensure work is tacked, squared and correct to the drawings before completing welds;
  • Take all work order packages from start to finish with minimal assistance (aluminum and steel) in a timely manner;
  • Document material usage and scrap correctly;
  • Stack parts for easy access for the next operation and label both parts and skids/containers correctly.
  • Assist in other areas of production as needed, if qualified.

    Safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes and hearing protection must be worn for the entirety of the shift.
