The Engineering Services Division, Land Drainage and Flood Protection Branch is offering seasonal employment opportunity from approximately May to September 2024.
As the Seasonal Technical Assistant you will assist the Land Drainage and Flood Protection Branch with day to day tasks and other work as assigned.


As the _Seasonal Technical Assistant_
_ _you will**:

  • Operate and monitor the rain gauge network and assist in land drainage and flood protection assessments.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public.

Your education and qualifications include:


  • Successful completion of at least 1 year in either Civil or Water resources engineering from an accredited undergraduate program.
  • Skill in the use of AutoCad release 2000.
  • Survey skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products including Excel.
  • Ability to use engineering software and/or basic knowledge of computer programming.
  • Familiarity in the use of GIS software.
  • Ability to interpret construction and record drawings and specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of various underground infrastructure products.
  • Experience/class work in the following areas desirable: hydraulics and hydrology.

Conditions of employment:


  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
