This position requires knowledge of all aspects of hydrographic & terrestrial surveying including GNSS, tides, mapping, sound velocity, multibeam and single beam echosounder operation, sidescan collection and interpretation, and vessel mobilizations.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Survey in support of pile driving operations, inclusive of the following tasks:
  • Drawing review and QC/QA,
  • Site Control installation and/or QC/QA of existing control,
  • Marine and terrestrial pile layout and pile driving support surveying, as well as
  • Generation of asbuilt coordinate and drawing submittal package for delivery to Clients.
  • Strong understanding of geodetics and control networks.
  • Ability to make adjustments onthefly to satisfy Specification requirements and Client needs.
  • Ability to identify constructability issues and work with project team to find solutions.
  • Execute surveys and layout in support of Marine Construction project operations with the use of Total Station, GPS, level, or other survey equipment.
  • Draft survey plans in support of progress or record drawings.
  • Accept responsibility for assigned tasks and follow all QA/QC standards, review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures, and suggest improvements as necessary.
  • Ability to collect survey data in a variety of environments including offshore, foreshore, estuarine, lakes and ponds.
  • Analyze and process data using projectspecified software packages.
  • Follow all QA/QC controls during acquisition and subsequent processing of hydrographic and terrestrial data.
  • Update supervisor with project progress, maintain survey logs, update records, and write field operation reports.
  • Coordinate with the project team, review project plans at all stages to identify and resolve problems.
  • Assist with designing and installing project control networks in the field.
  • Assist with vessel operations and vessel crew duties as needed.
  • Complete all company required HSE training; actively participate in regular safety meetings.
  • Ability to identify errors, anomalies, and data quality issues during data collection.

QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION:

  • Post-Secondary education in Hydrography, Geomatics, Cartography, Geography, Natural Sciences, Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant pile driving experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn electronics skills including but not limited to soldering, installation, configuration and troubleshooting of marine survey electronics such as tide gauges and marine derrick positioning systems.
  • Willingness to learn to calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot FRPD hydrographic surveying and positioning equipment including multibeam echo sounders, Motion Reference Units, GNSS receivers and Gyros.
  • Some multibeam experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable software packages such as AutoCAD, C3D MS Work office suite, and Trimble Geomatics Office.
  • Basic knowledge of hydrographic acquisition and postprocessing software including QINSy, HYPACK, HydroPRO, Clamvision, and Caris is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain Small Vessel Operators Proficiency (SVOP) training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work duties are performed in both office and field environments; field work is performed outdoors and may take place in inclement weather and extreme temperatures. This includes site visits as required as well as requirement to be on call nights and weekends.
  • Responsibilities may require an unconventional work schedule at times, long days and evening/weekend hours in order to meet project deadlines.
  • Hydrographic survey work requires working on a vessel for extended periods of time.
  • Both field and office work require occasional heavy lifting of survey equipment.
  • Ability to pass project specific drug testing.
  • Travel & out of town work as required.
