The Part-Time Community Outreach Worker will be working in Toronto to connect youth with camp opportunities.
ABOUT YWCA TORONTO - CAMP TAPAWINGO
YWCA Camp Tapawingo is a summer camp near Parry Sound for girls and gender diverse youth ages 6-16 providing leadership and skill development.
The Outdoor Centre at Tapawingo offers outdoor education opportunities in the spring and fall to women, families and community groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works as part of a team with the manager to contact and attend community groups serving girls and gender diverse youth to provide information and opportunities at YWCA Camp Tapawingo for campers, leaders in training and staff;
- As part of the outreach, attends other community groups programs to establish a relationship with the youth, and where possible, present information about our programs;
- Research diverse job posting boards within underserved communities;
- Designs promotional material, attends job fairs and is responsible for the setup of the booth;
- Keeps updated notes on campers and during discussions with parents;
- Maintains, records and compiles statistics regarding participants contacts etc. and prepare a report.
QUALIFICATIONS
- College or University student
(Cases for Equivalency will be considered); - 13 years directly related work experience with youth;
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in public speaking;
- Must possess excellent computer skills and advanced knowledge in MS Word, Excel, Power Point;
- Operates in an environment that has mínimal supervision, requires flexibility, adaptability and problem solving skills;
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills;
- Very strong organizational skills and detailoriented.
Note:
Required to travel at least 20% of the time.
