Intermediate
Project Controls Specialist to join its Industrial Division in support of building a compression station near Spirit River, Alberta.
This is a ten (10) month site based role on a rotational schedule with 15 days on, 6 days off. This is a dynamic project environment with multiple work fronts. Management is well-respected, approachable, and provides direction as required. Safety is promoted at all levels.


The Intermediate Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for maintaining cost, productivity, manpower, quality, HSE and earned value progress data for a construction project in Northwest Alberta.

This will include managing and updating data mapping requirements between multiple sources (P6, Vista, Aimsio, Ineight) to produce daily, weekly and monthly project progress reports for the project execution team.

The project reporting requirements will be done in conjunction with other stakeholders within the project teams including scheduling specialist. project coordinators, administration, and line supervisors.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Maintain external and internal cost reports, cash flows and forecasts
  • Track detailed breakdown of purchase orders or subcontracts and ensure budget tracking against purchase orders or subcontracts
  • Analyze reports such as monthly internal labor costs and general costs; compile and review charges against budget and determine impact on project costs
  • Review costs/schedules reports for any anomalies, fluctuations, unusual occurrences, or other spending concerns that could impact the project final cost forecast and expected completion date
  • Maintain cost reports in a standardized report format as defined by the project requirements (maintain planned versus actual tracking sheets for various line items within project budgets and schedules).
  • Identify trends and change to the design, procurement and field construction progress against the contract schedules and productivity requirements, and report analysis to project team maintaining all information on the change order register
  • Implement project controls plan for accurate project controls reporting and timely billing of all reimbursable costs
  • Contribute to the development of various financial, productivity and scheduling analyses and forecasts as required to assist the project controls team
  • Assist with administrative coordination of all equipment documentation related to projects, proposals, development, and process improvements
  • Work with accounting team in reconciling accounts payable and receivable issues
  • Coordinate with the Finance team to review, reconcile client invoices
  • Manage code of accounts in conjunction with construction departments on all coded documents including timesheets, purchase orders and invoices
  • Process change orders and trend alerts in accordance with established procedures.
  • Expedite the completion of change orders and present to project management for approval
  • Work with Project Manager to ensure the project successfully exceeds the project's cost targets
  • Oversee billing administration to include daily processing, corrections, reconciling, data entry, filing and communicating discrepancies internally and to the customer as needed
  • Manage integrated data from one program to another and assist Project Manager and Project Controls Lead with base cost estimates
  • Support the compilation of accurate, comprehensive and timely cost reports, and the development of change management process
  • Develop Excel spreadsheets and analyze raw data, interpret and communicate results/corrective measures to the project team
  • Other duties, as required

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • 5+ years' experience in project controls work on construction projects, including estimating, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, and project reports
  • Experience working with Microsoft programs with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of electrical, mecha
