Objective & Overview

  • The Site Supervisor is responsible for the production and maintenance activities at the Caledon Plant which is one of Lafarge's largest sand and gravel operations in Eastern Canada.
  • The Site Supervisor's primary focus is to lead the health and safety of the site.
  • This will be done while leveraging operational excellence to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production at all stages of the operation.
  • The Site Supervisor will lead by example supporting alignment with all functional groups, including Safety, Environment, Land, and Manufacturing to drive communication and consistency.
  • The Site Supervisor is part of the engagement with our neighbours and local communities to ensure we are viewed as a valued member of the industry and local community.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Culture:
  • Develop and instill a site level safety culture through consistent engagement with employees and contractors with an objective of "zero" harm;
  • Lead daily huddles and participates on the JHSC to demonstrate commitment to workplace safety;
  • Ensure front line employee compliance to all applicable local and regional health & safety policies and initiatives, including but not limited to hazard reporting, risk assessment, Working at Heights, Confined Space, Energy Isolation and Hot Work;
  • Assist in the preparation for and participation in periodic health & safety site audits; and assist in the administration of the site Contractor Safety Management program, by completing site orientations, where required, and regularly auditing contractor performance to ensure compliance to applicable local and regional health & safety policies.
  • Human Resources:
  • Directly responsible for the individual development, motivation and training of all direct reports to maximize their performance;
  • Responsible for the administration of disciplinary measures in a fair and consistent manner to address / correct substandard performance of all direct reports;
  • Assist in the site hiring process;
  • Assist in the administration and management of local collective and hourly working agreements amongst all direct reports;
  • Promote, develop and drive customer focus, operational efficiency and performance management process within frontline teams;
  • Practice active and passive supervision of frontline teams.
  • Production and Maintenance:
  • Determine manpower requirements and shift scheduling to meet production demands;
  • Establish and manage weekly production and maintenance schedule; Manage and drive meeting daily production targets;
  • Responsible for participating in the shortterm planning and execution of maintenance activities along with the maintenance department;
  • Involved in the daily implementation and compliance to the Maintenance Module, including but not limited to creating job plans, completing equipment inspection logs, and managing maintenance backlogs;
  • Oversee maintenance of mobile equipment fleet, including:
  • Completion of mobile equipment inspections and correction of noted deficiencies;
  • External service report review and analysis;
  • Coordinating mobile equipment repairs & maintenance;
  • Tracking work order completion.
  • Oversee the procurement of all subcontractors related to production and mobile equipment.
  • Financial:
  • Assisting in the development and adherence to annual maintenance (repair) budgets;
  • Participate in monthly EBIT reviews to ensure its accuracy and to identify cost reduction opportunities;
  • Responsible to manage production and inventory forecasting to optimize yield and profitability;
  • Support supply chain with balancing inventories and sal
