Early Childhood Education Coordinator:

**Exempt Staff

  • Two Year Term**The District of Kitimat provides facilities and services that support a safe, connected, inclusive, healthy and dynamic community. Located in Northwest BC, Kitimat is home to just over 8,000 people with a stable tax base and is experiencing growth from increased levels of industrial, residential, and commercial development.


We are surrounded by mountains, rivers, oceans and parks and our staff are able to enjoy a work-life balance with backyard access to many outdoor recreational activities such as biking, hiking, golf, skiing, boating and fishing.

The Terrace-Kitimat Regional Airport is a 40-minute drive away with multiple daily direct flights to Vancouver and Prince George, perfect for a weekend getaway.


Job Summary

Job Duties

  • Develop a work plan and key performance indicators to complete deliverables.
  • Develop priorities for year 1 funding supports / initiatives based on current needs in the community. The external consultant will support the coordinator to develop strategic plans and approaches to executive the priorities.
  • Establish a formalized working group comprised of ECE leaders and organizations with key deliverables stated above.
  • Reporting to the CAO and working with external consultant to initiate a threetofiveyear strategic planning process.

Year 1 Outcomes

  • Convene and establish formal working group of ECE professionals in Kitimat.
  • Coordinate the ECE working group and community stakeholders to participate in the development of a threetofiveyear strategic plan for ECE in Kitimat.
  • Actively identify throughout the firstyear key funding opportunities and coordinate with the working group and external stakeholder to apply.
  • Work with the ECE Working Group and external consulting expertise where required to establish a strategic implementation workplan.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Business / Public Administration, Community Development, Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Experience with managing and facilitating groups.
  • Experience with grant writing.
  • Minimum 5 year's experience in progressively more responsible positions working across sectors.
  • Experience in budget development and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and public relations skills sufficient to produce required documents and maintain professional and harmonious relationship with fellow employees, the public, outside organizations and agencies.
  • BC Driver's License minimum Class 5.
