Job Description:


The Assistant Banquet Manager will lead the Banquet department on day-to-day operation, with Banquet manager, and in their absence take full responsibility of managing the team.

The Assistant Banquet Manager ensures that functions at the hotel are properly set up and executed.

Responsibilities:


  • Consistently offers professional, engaging, and friendly service to new and returning guests.
  • Supports operations of a 27,000 square feet banquet space.
  • Ensures the cleanliness, repair and maintenance of all banquet facilities, including reporting any deficiencies.
  • Conducts service standard assessments (MOS) on a regular basis.
  • Follows productivity guidelines and create the banquet scheduling accordingly.
  • Engages in the recruitment, mentorship and development of full time, part time and casual associates (servers, bartenders and housepersons).
  • Champions and demonstrates Omni's culture and values, encompassing being ALL IN.
  • Leads the banquet team from setup and execution to tear down of events.
  • Drives excellence in guest satisfaction results, grow our associate engagement, and financial goals.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Banquet Manager, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage or Hotel Management.
  • Maintains confidentiality on all matters pertaining to management, associates, or any related Food and Beverage matters.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary degree in Hospitality or Food and Beverage Management preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Banquet leadership role.
  • Minimum 1 year experience managing or supervising in a unionized environment.
  • Previous experience in luxury properties (4 or 5stars segment) an asset.
  • Previous experience in different types of banquet styles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English. Additional language(s) an asset.
  • Proven leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Micros, Opera, Delphi, Birchstreet, Kronos, Outlook, Word and Excel is strongly preferred.
  • Highly responsive, strong attention to detail, reliable, and demonstrates sound judgment.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, focus attention on guest needs, and remain professional and courteous at all times.
  • Smart Serve certified.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Constant standing and walking through shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, and push up to 200 lbs on a daily basis.
  • Kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting on a daily basis.
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
